I love chocolate movies, but they are so few and far between. That’s why I’m pleased to share this little bon bon with you.

Independent filmmaker Sarah Feinbloom takes a tongue-in-cheek look at her chocolate roots in this yummy production.

The DVD cover says, “Extra Fine and Creamy and May Contain Nuts,” the nuts being the chocoholics she interviews, all of whom converge upon Chocolate Covered, a chocoholic’s paradise in the heart of Noe Valley in San Francisco.

If I hadn’t had some chocolate nearby, I would seriously have been trying to lick the screen. I may have to take a vacation to San Fran JUST to visit Chocolate Covered. Mmm.

Chocolate Toothpaste?! I kid you not.

breathpaletteA friend went to Japan and came back with–yes, it’s true –chocolate toothpaste.

A company there called Margaret Josefin has a whole line of uniquely flavored toothpastes, called the “Breath Palette.”

I’m not sure what I was expecting. . .maybe something akin to chocolate frosting? It wasn’t like that at all.

Instead, it was a very light color with just a hint of brown, and had the consistency of normal toothpaste. The initial flavor was just chocolatey enough that you could tell what it was, and then the minty finish kicked in.

I can’t say it was amazingly good, but, surprisingly, it wasn’t too bad, either.

If you’ve got a chocoholic on your hands and are looking for the next unique gift, you might give this a try.

Dark Chocolate Practical Use #293

This evening we had barbecue, and, failing to find our usual barbecue sauce at the grocery store, got suckered into buying Big Mike’s BBQ Sauce.  It claimed to be “mild.”

So, after Big Mike’s mild gave our sinuses a good workout and set our tongues on fire, we went looking for something to douse the flames.

Water is always a good first choice, and bread sometimes does the trick, but, go figure, a piece of dark chocolate really stops the burning.  Who’da thunk?
